Young preschool program
Our Young Preschool Room provides a relationship driven environment where students are in charge of their learning. With the help of Creative Curriculum and our Teachers, students explore a wide variety of topics. Student's will study trees, pets, boxes, and more.
This curriculum covers 38 learning objectives in 10 different developmental domains. These domains are Social-emotional, Physical, Language, Cognitive, Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, and English. Each learning objective is assessed three times a year per student. These assessments help inform instruction in the classroom and also indicates areas of growth in students.
Assessment information is gathered through interactions and observations in the classroom. Teachers help to facilitate play in order to gain specific information about each Childs development and to expand on students learning experiences.
Along with Creative Curriculum, the Brigance screener is given to each student twice a year. This screener is widely used as a Kindergarten readiness screener. Again, the information gained from these assessments helps to inform teaching in the classroom and helps to identify areas of growth in students development.
In addition, conferences are held twice a year. Conferences give parents an opportunity to sit down with their Childs teacher to discuss their development. During the conference, the Creative Curriculum assessments and the Brigance screener will be reviewed. Teachers will also provide recommendations to further each Childs development and they will also provide at home activates as well.
