Illness/MedicationsChildren with a fever, excessive coughing, skin rashes, diarrhea or flu systems should not come to school. Contagious illnesses should be reported so we may alert others of the symptoms to watch for. Prescribed medication may be given if the child's name, medicine name, doctor's name, date, time, and amount is clearly labeled, and a medicine chart is filled out.

School Closings
We rarely close our school for any reason. When it is necessary, parent's will be called to pickup their children and announcements will be made on WLEN.
Communication
You will be made aware of your child's classroom schedule, activities, field trips, and other items of interest through a monthly newsletter. We also have a parent bulletin board by the sign in sheet where you can find a photo id list of all employees and any important center information.
Discipline
We view disciplining as a way of teaching self control. When disciplining we believe in using a positive approach. We encourage children to develop self-control and to treat others with respect.. If a problem develops, the teacher will use redirection, logical or natural consequences, and anticipation of potential problems to encourage appropriate behavior.
Outdoor Play

Large motor activities are a very important part of your child's day. Recesses are scheduled in the morning and afternoon. Please make sure your child comes with appropriate clothing. It is always a good idea to send along a jacket or sweater, even on nice days, as the weather can quickly change.
In the winter, it is important to send a snow suit, boots, mittens, and a hat each day. On severely cold winter days, we do not go outdoors.
